FA Cup
Well the greatest cup competition in the world starts on Saturday, with the extra preliminary round. My son and I have picked a team, Knaresborough Town in North Yorkshire, and are going to watch them play Northallerton Town. We will then watch who ever wins in the next round and so on. I don't expect we will be able to get tickets for the semi-final or final but really looking forward to it! Proper grass roots football, cheap beer and fuck knows after the next round, where and who we will end up watching. A friend did it a number of years ago and really enjoyed doing it, I don't know if anybody on here has had a go??

"fuck knows after the next round"

That is both what makes the FA cup what it is and why the TV companies hate it so.

Re: FA Cup
There was a good book about it in the 70s or maybe 80s about following it club to club from the first preliminary game, got it somewhere, think they started at Matlock Town

Re: FA Cup
Should we ask Len to pick us a non-West Ham team to follow through the cup early stages?

Exeter

yes i had it as a kid - ' journey to Wembley - from Tividale to Wembley '

Right from the beginning they hoped to avoid an early Liverpool or Man Utd , more fun to change clubs multiple times ; but they didnt get lucky. Surprised someone hasnt written a new one .

I'd fancy a trip to Mousehole (think it's in Cornwall, might be wrong) but suspect they won't last too long!

Re: FA Cup
Great start to the FA Cup journey, Knaresborough is a super little market town in North Yorkshire, 2 - 1 to Knaresborough in a tight match, locals seemed friendly enough, watched from pitch side, £6 tickets and Morreti £3.50 a pint. Onwards to Liversedge V Knaresborough in a couple of weeks.

I went to Redbridge v Ilford yesterday. Cracking cup game with a bit of needle, and a real standout goal that was worthy of any cup game, plus a saved pen and a red card. All for a fiver.

Yesterday Hornchurch played and beat Warrington Rylands in the Pitching Super Cup which pits the FA Vase and Trophy winners.

Today the team went on an open bus tour around Upminster and Hornchurch.
